Working out the Xbox 360 Manufacturing Date and Serial Number
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
On the bottom of the Xbox 360, you will be able to see the Xbox 360 manufacturing date and the Xbox 360 serial number. The manufacturing date is in the following format:
2008-11-03
YYYY-MM-DD
(Year-Month-Day) which is the date according to ISO 8601.
This would
The serial number looks like this:
6144526 84302
the serial number is formatted (LNNNNNN YWWFF)
- L the number of the production line within the factory,
- NNNNNN the number of the Xbox within this week.
- Y the last digit of the production year,
- WW the number of the week of the production year
- FF is the code of the factory (02: Mexico, 03: Hungary, 05: China, 06: Taiwan),
So taking the serial number 6144526 14302 this would give us
- Line 6 of the factory
- This would be 144526 off the production line
- 2008 production year
- Week 43 of the year
Factory location Mexico

Thank you, finally some real info!!
[...] is one trick to find the manufactured date with the serial number, this site shows how. The last 5 digits of your serial number determines the date YWWFF 74902 would be 2007 [...]
how about FF = 07 wich country with this digit
003387764607
what model is this ?
is it the 2006 model?
Good question moumouh. I have one coming back from texas with an “7″. And in the example above, 14302, wouldn’t that mean the production year is 2001 ???
The 14302 is a typo. Above, it’s 84302.
Anyone know how to work out the serial number for the 360 wireless controller?
[...] Pro” and I have no idea what that means. The Internet doesn’t really either. If this site is to be believed deciphering the serial number shows my new Xbox was created in China and built [...]
Good question about the “07″ country code. My first 360 had “54405″ at the end; the replacement unit sent out was “048xxxx63507″ – I guess the “line number” of “0″ was the bathroom? That unit was sent out last week (RROD like the first unit) and I will be receiving a different unit with the last five digits “73705″. Does anyone know what the “black” newer units mfg dates start at?
My new Black one is 2010-01-07
Serials ending in 7\ were manufactured in the USA.
Last week I bought Need For Speed:Hot Pursuit, but when i tried playing it in my 360 Arcade (Jasper model with SN# ending with -07), It gave me this error: “this disc’s region is incorrect for this console”.
When trying to install the game, I get this error: “Installation of this game isn’t supported”
The Xbox is bought here in Denmark, and so is the game (PAL).
All my other (PAL) games work fine: GTAIV, Blur, SFIV, Kinect Joy Ride, Kinect Dance Central. Fable 3
I just got off the phone with Xbox support who claims that my Xbox is Japanese(!), which they claim they can see from the last two sigits (07) of my SN#…
Is that BS or does anyone know what might be causing this?
Could it really be a JAP console and that I have just been lucky having bought region free titles?
From what I can read in this thread, the last two digits of the SN# have nothing to do with the region… so i am confused.
Any info on this is much appreaciated.
Thanks in advance
japanese consoles are genrally the best, alot of these are made in china or japan so they make their consoles region free. meaning you can play all the really cheap games and dvds from abroad on them, big bonus! Any1 know where i can buy one?
